Oedipus Rex: A Short Poem
Oedipus,
The King,
Dreamt of terrors -
Dining by black candlelight -
Gazing through the silvered pane -
Breathing Jocasta to an empassioned chorus,
And he, accosted by hounds of pride,
Applied two cuts to a veil of ivory flesh
And thus swept the random light from his eyes.
